Night Market is coming back this year to celebrate what was quite possibly our greatest decade, the 1990s! MAXT and our partners will be looking for novel ways to create a time when culture was scarce and therefore precious. It was a time where we created and shared mixtapes as a beacon to find like minded friends. They forced us to stand behind our convictions - identifying the best songs, the right order.  Mixtapes were part of the underground, secret messages shared in small communities. Mixtapes were statements of unspoken desires.  A mixtape might be the only thing you had on a long road trip and it better hold up. Mixtapes were aspirations, beaming the dreams of unknown musicians to the world, in the hope that one day they will be seen.  

At Night Market ‘24, along with the usual fun of the Night Market, we will be inviting visual artists, sound artists, performance artists and musicians to help interpret and celebrate 1990s culture.
